Sellers

There are three common mistakes sellers make when choosing a real estate agent.

  • Highest List Price
  • Not using a Realtor™
  • Lowest Commission Realtor™

Highest List Price

A good listing agent can show you comparable sales, pending sales, and active listings similar to your home before you set the list price. Although the only true determining factor for your sale price will be what a ready, willing, and able buyer will pay, this will give you a good indication.

Ask for your real estate agent’s statistics. Agents should know how the percentage of list price they normally sell and how many they sell in the current year.

Not using a Realtor™

Not using a Realtor™ put you at a disadvantage. Not only do Realtors™ know real estate law and have experience selling and buying homes, but they can also market your home more efficiently.

Lowest Commission Realtor™

Real estate agents are not all the same. About 10% of agents do 90% of the business. Agents have a variety of reasons to cut their commission. A lot of the time it is so they can compete in the highly competitive market. They might be unable to stand apart based on customer service, marketing, knowledge, or negotiation skills.
